Sales tax is a retail point-of-purchase tax imposed by state and local governments that is paid by the purchaser for goods and services. As a business owner, you are required to assess sales tax, collect it and pass it on to the appropriate authorities within the prescribed time. Endless Aisles will not be responsible for the collection or reporting of sales tax to the appropriate authorities.
You can set up your site or your Endless Aisles Special Ordering account to collect sales tax in any state where you have nexus, the legal term for “sufficient physical presence”. For example, if you have a store, a warehouse or office in California, you would need to charge sales tax on orders made in that state. For more information about Nexus, we recommend visiting this site.
If your company operates in multiple states—and especially if you’re selling online—be sure to stay up to date on changes in state tax laws that may affect you.
